Recently the Surat Municipal Corporation started out to cut two huge African BAOBAB trees claiming that they were obstructing the road widening planning. It was resisted by our group and the SMC squad had to go back, we did "CHIPKO". The problem was tossed up in media and the media supported us well to make it a issue and now SMC has no choice but to postpone the cutting.
